Hey - we're not dead!
Basically our "side" project FAN DEATH has become quite a time devouring entity onto itself.
Thus we've been neglected the poor Dandi Wind website.

Fear not, there is a third Dandi Wind album 75% recorded.
As soon as the Fan Death ep/album have been released this will be our top priority!

Some of y'all have been asking where exactly you can buy each of our releases:
Well, here are some direct links:

You can still buy our first album CONCRETE IGLOO from us:

and also the limited edition DECONTAMINATE 7 inch:
our second album YOLK OF THE GOLDEN EGG can be purchase from Tell Me Records as below:
And apparently there are some copies of our Japan only 7 inch single SLEEPING BEAUTY
that can be ordered directly from Every Conversation Records in Tokyo:

SEPT 28 2008

Here are TWO videos for the album we made with Nathan Drillot while on tour in China -
"A Lifetime" is almost surely the only music video filmed ON the real Great Wall Of China!!!

Dandi Wind - A Lifetime from Salazar on Vimeo.

Dandi Wind - Powerball from Salazar on Vimeo.

Powerball (Filmed in Chengdu China!) Directed by Nathan Drillot AND another short film I made
with longtime associate and album photographer John Londono:

JUNE 10 2008

Hello again, Our 3rd single of the year (and again this WILL NOT be on any album!) is available now for $6 + shipping.
This time around it's for Decontaminate, our pean to Howard Hughes who once spent a year holed up at the Bayshore Hotel here in Vancouver.
It comes in a handsome full colour sleeve with an exclusive B-Side called "Birthmark" from Black Mountain Phonographic.
You can click the below image to order it via paypal.

What's up with Yolk Of The Golden Egg you ask!? Well it is already pressed and in hand but will be in stores via SLUM/Tell Me in September.
It will also be available on our myspace at that time.
Other than that we have FOUR music videos completed (3 in China!) that will be premiering as they are editing over the next few months.

PS : go here for the THIRD and BEST photo blog from our Asia trip : China.

MAY 01 2008

May 1st, 2008 We are back from Asia and this was the tour to end them all.
Every show was really good with Taipei, Beijing, Nagoya and Tokyo standing out as being particularly mental.
As always I've followed the age old adage "A picture says a thousand words" and snapped about a thousand pix throughout the month to create 3 photo blogs.

Here are the first 2:
Taipei

Japan

We are also super happy to have a limited quantity of our new Japan only 7 inch single to offer up for sale online.
It features 2 exclusive brand new songs that will not be issued elsewhere and comes in a fab glossy picture sleeve.
Also we are including a Dandi Wind button and .FLAC mp3 downloads of both songs
which are incidentally titled "Sleeping Beauty" and "Belly Cutting" with yr purchase.
You can buy it now/preview the songs by clicking HERE. As always there are few copies available so act fast.
Xo. DW.

PS: our oft delayed 2nd album "Yolk Of The Golden Egg" is actually pressed and in hand.
We are meeting with SLUM Records to discuss how and when it will be actually available in stores and promoted so sit tight.

FEB 23 2008

Okay, time for our big news - we're going to be one of the first underground band to ever tour China!!! (after Sonic youth)
So exciting and amazing.
I will dance on the great wall, with the terracotta warriors and with chairman mao's body.
We're also going to be going to Japan finally so that's even more exciting. Obviously we will take as much video and photo's as humanly possible.

If you happen to be in that part of the world the dates (which are still being finalized) are posted on the front page and the live page.

Still no news on Yolk Of The Golden Egg. Again everything is completed but it's still not yet being pressed.

Keep checking back here for updates on our other new releases we have planned for 2008.
I am currently scheduling a shoot for our new music video which will be an epic and with any luck "the greatest music video ever".
Xo, DW

FEB 02 2008

Thanks to everyone who's bought Sacrificial directly from us - considering all the negative variables that abound in 2K8
we were plesantly surprised at the response. Though Summer Lovers has copies left we are pretty much sold out
so you now order direct from them via the links here or on our myspace.

At the moment we're gearing up to play a series of west coast shows around Sxsw in Austin.
We've built a large set and have new backing videos we're excited to premiere. Also we've overhauled our setlist with loads of new trax.
And we'll likely have some more copies of Sacrificial by then to hock in person.

Further on the touring tip we've got some really AMAZING dates coming up -
it's a bit too soon to reveal and we don't want to jinx them but suffice it to say we're heading to some faraway lands few bands have ever dared venture.

For any of you who heard Decontaminate and/or Birthmark on our myspace page and wondered how you could buy them -
all will soon be revealed in april in a fab looking 7 inch from a new vinyl label called BlackMountain Music.
It features those two exclusive trax (that won't be on any album or cd) in a fab sleeve designed by Dandi. Czech the pic below:
Of course it's limited edition!

As for Yolk - well, it's still not pressed yet.
The amount of shite we've gone through for this album makes us question if there really ISN'T a God as we've surely been smited by something.
HOWEVER the cd IS at the plant so even if we died or something it would still one day be released...

JAN 12 2008

2008 is here already and unlike 2007 we're definitely going to have a lot of new releases out.
We've had so much terrible luck over the last year that we've got dozens of songs we want to have released soon.

First up we have available NOW via SLUM Records our new 16 track remix album "SACRIFICIAL"
- it's a beautiful digipack cd which we are selling for only 5 dollars! You can buy it now by clicking the link below.
It's so cheap it's not worth wasting your bandwidth on downloading it illegally.

In tandem with the Sacrificial release I've created a new animated video for Searching Flesh.

Coming soon - the fabled and finally released Yolk Of The Golden Egg also on SLUM -
keep checking back as it's actually being printed now and HAS to be released!
The reason why it was not released in 2007 is (besides banal music industry reasons) we decided to add some new songs,
remove others and re-record all the other stuff from the initial "final version".
At any rate it's greatly improved over our demos and is sequenced to run as a long suite.

Later in the year we will be releasing a couple of singles / 7 inches and a long running EP on various other labels
to be formally announced when they are actually being pressed (we've learned from the mistake of being hasty too often…)

PS: we're doing a small tour of the west up to and around SXSW so check the live dates to see if we're coming to yr town.

PPS: t shirts are out of stock pending us getting enough money to print more.

OCT 10 2007

"A Smile Before Death" ep is entirely SOLD OUT! Thanks everyone who bought one.

OCT 2 2007

Okay - it's done. Our unreleased rarities EP "A Smile Before Death" can be purchased by clicking the below animated gif.
These are mega limited, hand-done in every way and won't be reprinted.
No matter who you are there are songs on here you've never even known existed!

SEPT 26 07

Holy Christ - we've been neglecting this damned web page.
I've set aside some time to fix the myriad broken links throughout and in the next week or so
we should be overhauling things a bit - finally!

If you're in the mood for some more recent lives pix you can either rummage through the pix section of our myspace page
OR do a search for DANDI WIND on flickr - there are tons of pictures from 2007 all throughout there.

AND as for some actual news since we've finally gotten a break from touring this year
we're gearing up to put out no less than FOUR releases in the near future: Here are the details:

1. An ultra limited online sales ONLY ep available soon right here!!!
This will compile 6 or 7 completely unheard Dandi Wind trax from 2003-2007. Email us to register your interest.
Again this will be extremely limited.

2. mega cheap 16 trak (!) remix EP "SACRIFICIAL" coming soon from Summer Lovers Unlimited Records.
Featuring the long awaited official release of Searching Flesh plus remixes from loads of people like:
South Central, Mehr Licht, Fake Shark Real Zombie, Late Of the Pier etc. etc.

3. All new 9 trak EP "FRESH HUMILIATION" coming soon from a new Los Angeles label called "TELL ME".
This will have a tribal slant. Hear "Birthmark" on the Tell Me Records myspace page.

4. Long overdue full length album #2 "YOLK OF THE GOLDEN EGG" remains completed
however we still can't say when exactly it will come out.
This album is our penultimate statement however and we've spent 2007 redoing a bunch of the trax
and adding / deleting some of the ones we had for the 2006 "finished" version.
At any rate when it finally comes out you'll know.

xo! -DW.

Hey - ya, It's so hard to maintain a website in this age of myspace. For current news/shows etc. definitely keep that bookmarked.

We're back from the Horrors tour and it was a total blast - follow this link to see a bunch of pix:

HORRORS TOUR

Also here's what a dandi wind backstage looks like:

and Madrid - to quote R.Kelly "I'm like so what I'm drunk":

AND also we're going to be doing a massive USA tour in July so if you want us to play in your town shoot us an email and we'll see what we can do. We will even be ploughing the depths of middle America in a way we never dreamed possible…. God help us.

PS - if yr in the UK Concrete Igloo is available for purchase in stores now.

APR 04 07

We're very excited to be returning to the UK/Europe for loads of shows including with the Horrors who we met again in Austin. Come Czech it out. Dates on the frontpage, live page or our myspace… We'll be kicking out some new numbers in anticipation of the late spring release of Yolk Of the Golden Egg.

And here's a message from Dandi re: our transitional lineup.

Evan is no longer working with us thank god. I really couldn't stand him and it had gotten to the point where just looking at him made me feel sick.
I personally had absolutely nothing in common with him and there had been a very uncomfortable silence b/t us for the past year.

He was so incredibly passive and pathetic - he had no interest in art/ music or film and the only band he seemed to like was The Police (WTF?!).
He spent his whole day either playing gameboy / jacking off or downloading crappy modern action films like superman and shit.

He would embarrass me after every show trying hard - like a dog in heat, to fuck any girl who had the misfortune of being backstage at the time.
Dude claims to have scored "loads of groupies" - when in reality he was barely bunting let alone getting on base.
What a feeb - Groupies aren't girls who politely stand there listening to you ramble when cornered!

So whatever, good riddance to him. Vive Dandi Wind. Fuck Tha Police. We'll be back with our new drummer this summer. Till then XO. Dandi.

MAR 10 07

* We're currently on our first US tour en route to SxSw - in some off time we've finally added some more current pictures and tried to clean the site up a bit.
SF and the first 2 LA shows were off the hook as was Ruff Club Manhattan.
We're back in NYC real soon (22nd of march at hiro ballroom) then we're moving to the UK for 2 months of shows and also some gigs in Europe.

JAN 21 07

* God - it's been ages seen we've updated this page - nowadays with myspace it's hard to get around to it.
2007 has arrived and around April our 2nd album "YOLK OF THE GOLDEN EGG" will be released in the US/Canada on Summer Lovers
and in a double cd package with our first via ALT> in the UK.

We've got loads of post Egg ideas in various states of completion so in an ideal world
we'll have at least one possibly two additional albums completed in 2007. (we said this last year as well so don't hold yr breath)

* One big announcement (as the front page attests) is our first US show !
This has been a long time coming obviously and it's rad that it's in San Francisco as well.
The show is FREE so there is no excuse at all for not attending!
Hopefully we'll been doing loads more touring in the US as well -please email us if u want to book a show for us.

* We'll be back in the UK/Europe in spring as well so keep yr eyes peeled.

NOV 26 06

*Another year winds to a close... we've done quite a bit but not nearly as much as we'd hoped.
We make our RETURN to Vancouver and first appearance in Calgary this december. come out as this is not going to happen often!!!!!

* We're looking to play someplace interesting this New Years Eve so if you can bring us out we want to play: email us at dandiwnd AT hotmail DOT com

* Yolk of the Golden Egg will come out in 2007 hopefully this will be our first release you can actually FIND somewhere and that is reviewed by somebody...

* PS: czech some more yolk trax on THIS MYSPACE PAGE.

OCT 06

Holy Shit: Mexico City was the best time of our fucking lives! W're definitely not prone to undeserved exhalations (ie: we found Tokyo a tad bland) but Mexico is the raddest place on earth. So many amazing experiences in such a short time. The folks who brought us out; Enrique, Denise and Ulysses were so kind and giving it was amazing. We got to experience so much of the bizarre character of Mexico City that very few non-Mexicans likely have..

Some of the highlights .. visiting an AMAZING strip club completely stuck in 1980 complete with strippers who've clearly been there since then. The whole place is done in black light with murals of London (2!) , NYC, naked woman mermaids, and jungle theme. Also there..s a manually operated catwalk that came down from the ceiling and some tricked out lighting (strobe light that never turns off) + a sentimental mariachi host who got all the ..businessmen.. singing along and dancing with the ladies.. Our favorite lady was this one who looked/sang/acted exactly like Charo! Her whole act involved fanning her pussy with her skirt while wearing nothing underneath.. she asked us where we from and I think she understood it to be CAN-cun..

The taxis in Mexico are a total trip. Fares start at 70 cents and you can get around the whole downtown for like 5 bucks. Of course there are no seatbelts and the driving is absolute chaos .. our lives continuously passed before eyes as we were switching 5 lanes to do a turn with no signals in a decrepit Volkswagen bug held together with duct tape..Just traveling through the streets you see so much interesting stuff. Every street corner has ten or fifteen people hawking various foods. Like a chiclet girl or a dude selling freezees.. Also there are kids who do acrobatics right in front of your car for spare change at red lights. There was an amazing middle aged clown guy who posed for a picture for 10 pesos.

Anyways following one such cab ride we visited the best flea market ever in the middle of Mexico City. Outside there were all these Maraichis chilling on the side of the road .. apparently they hang around like prostitutes which you can just pick up and have play your kids birthday party or whatever.. the flea market itself was massive (blocks and blocks long) and was kind of like a degenerating labyrinth. On the outside there were loads of car stereo stands and sports clothing (all new/bootleg) then as you progress to the deeper darker parts you come to people selling piles of miscellaneous shit; clothing, jewelry, books etc. And all for obscenely low prices of like 30cents to a few bucks. Dandi accumulated like ten pairs of crazy vintage boots and dozens of unused leggings.. Amongst the stands there are loads of ghetto food carts all with crazy shit like goat skulls with bits of flesh all on them and covered with flies! As well as other undetermined meat based delicacies.

Our homebase in Mexico City was our hosts Enrique + Denise's rad shop
..Clinica... If you..ve been to London it will remind you of Koko Tozai with a lot more amazing trinkets that you could only find in Mexico. They have really cool everychanging window displays as well which feature oufits by young Mexican designers.

Before our show Enrique took us out to what must be THE BEST club in the world: it'.s called Patrick Miller and it's impossible to describe how awesome it was: basically it's a gigantic 3000 person room in which several dance off circles form (think breakdance/paris is burning) and basically everybody crowds around the various circles waiting their turn to be one of the two people who get to strut their stuff in the middle of the for one song.. Because Dandi was a foreigner (possibly the only one who..s ever visited) she got to the head of the line and did her thing in the circle. But what makes Patrick Miller so amazing is that A) the music is ENTIRELY Italo-Disco .. nothing newer than 1982. B) nobody in the club is under 40. C) the mix of people is so bizarre; ranging from runty ranchero looking dads to Cashpoint style Gothic Kossack/Prince show dancers... Awesomely everybody who got in the circle gave 100% and it was often like watching yr dad get drunk at home and do pirouettes and leaps to a rad old synth jam. SUCH A DREAM.

We ended up doing two shows and both were really fun. Some of the people in Mexico City were INSANE looking: Leigh Bowery level insanity! These two young boys came dressed in these massive cloth balloon, severed limb pile costumes - which they switched out to a crazy homemade horserider theme midway through the night

So, so awesome. Dandi has never posed for more pictures/autographs than after that performance. One big skinheady dude was quite pissed however, repeatedly demanding a kiss as Dandi took his cellphone during the performance and sang a tune into it, anyways Szam bailed her out at the last moment and we went back to our hotel.
..
The second show in Guadalajara was such a bizarre trip; it was an 800 person guarded private party at the most decadent house we..ve EVER EVER seen. Think beyond the mansion in Scarface! It was like a full city block with a massive garden/forest/guest house and a 40 room mansion on top of a mountain. The show was held outside in a tent in the ten acre backyard with loads of beautiful people and it ran all night at a very loud volume. There was an insane thunder storm but fortunately the sound system didn..t totally die and we played a good crazy set during which Dandi scaled the bracketing that held the tent and there was some impromptu mud wrestling thanks to the rain.. unfortunately we had to leave right after our set but had such an awesome time that we hope to get back even visit in the next year and at hope to convince everybody to come out and visit cuz Mexico City is for real the best destination for thrill seeking youths.

SEPT 22 06

We're done fiddling with the 2nd album Yolk Of The Golden Egg and are in the final stages of mixing the animated film that will accompany it by the same name.
No release date yet however it will likely be a 2cd set in Europe with Concrete Igloo.

In addition to visiting Mexico City next week - a dream come true! We're coming back to the UK/Europe in November to play/record.
If you want us to play your town send us an email… We will have a new 7 inch release from Noize of Adolescent/Apotemnophilia.
The cover artwork is now the opening page of this site.

We're in quite a lot of press this month in the UK. Look for articles in Plan B, an 8 page photo spread in ID
and also something smallish in Dazed and Confused next month.

JULY 29 06

So we're back from a short 5 date jaunt to the UK/Norway. Touring is definitely a lot more pleasant when A) it's summer. B) you don't have to travel much… it was insanely hot in London (hottest ever apparently) the entire time we were there. On the buses/tube it apparently reached 52 celcius which is fucking mindblowing.

Thanks to Kim we got to play in Europe for the first time in Oslo. It's way smaller there than one would think, only 500,000 people but the waterfront is really beautiful with an amazing old fort with cannons. It's retardedly expensive there tho, beers are like 16 dollars Canadian at an average bar and even though there are 7/11s on every block (bizarrely) they're all super posh and way expensive…. The show was weird cuz up until 11:45 there were about 6 people in the audience at the club and we were super bummed out - but then around the stroke of midnight like 250 people came it, apparently due to the expense of booze everybody gets wasted before they leave the house… putting even montrealers to shame. In typical fashion Evan managed to snag a late night viewing of the lion king after the show and that was good.

Some cities you just can't have a good show in, Toronto for instance is almost always horrible for us, but Manchester is also really bad. The first time we played, you may recall from reading the update; there were about 3 people in the audience including an insane irish poet. Well this time things were equally bad yet different. The day got off to a shit start as Dandi left my suitcase carrying almost every piece of equipment I own in the train station in London. I realized after the train started moving that it was missing but we couldn't get confirmation on it's status the whole day so I had to make do using only my one keyboard and was severly bummed I'd have to write off 2 thousand dollars worth of equipment. Anyways it was clear the audience was going to be very conservative when nobody at all bothered to stand closer than 50 paces for Simon Bookish's awesome spoken word performance - which evidently was considered "too London" for the fashionless blobby audience. Fast Forwarding to our set - Dandi went completely off the charts of insanity in here performance, I think the soundman's head actually exploded Scanners style when she spilled a bit of beer on a cord of his…anyways they wanted to charge us 300 pounds to fix the mixer (what the fuck?!) and replace his Birkenstocks which got a few drips on them… needless to say we're not coming back to Manchester anytime soon. But the happy ending to all that is that some good samaritan actually RETURNED my suitcase to the lost and found!!! amazing, perhaps there is a god afterall...

Incidentally Simon aka Leo is fucking hilarious, he can make taking a piss a hilarious 10 minute tale
and we're gonna try and get him over to north America sometime soon.

Nottingham has twice been the scene of amazing shows for us in the past and although it was summertime and not nearly as crowded as usual this show was nothing if not memorable… right before we were to go Dandi spied a huge line of blokey guys dressed in golf gear waiting to come in the club which was obviously disheartening; but to difuse the situation Dandi correctly assumed they were a stag party and offered to dedicate our set to the groom. Thus the show degenerated into a strange UK- animal house party with the complete destruction and crowdsurfing of a palm tree and crazy booze infused atmosphere. The blokes even gave dandi a shoulder ride… No time in Nottingham is complete without mentioning ricky haley. This time we managed to set off his alarm for like 20 minutes at 3am risking our lives at the hands of his gun toting neighbor. Unfortunately we don't have as many ricky anecdotes as he's mellowed out in his old age (HA!) The London shows were both good although the second brought to light a disturbing incident… after the show as everything was getting packed away and we were just sitting around we couldn't help but be entranced/horrified by this plain looking girl doing this "sexy" bellydancing-esque moves all throughout the club and shaking her ass like crazy (in khaki shorts no less) with the largest STAIN known to man going on, so large it was visible from outer space. It was more repulsive yet baffling as she would repeatedly side up to dudes and wiggle her ass around them and then sit on their knees and shit.. I had to resist the gag reflex and wondered if it was some kind of candid camera gag.

Oh yeah and we're big into these awesome UK reality tv programs called Bodyshock and Mindshock - do a search on Youtube to peep some episodes. They're little hour long documentaries on strange subjects like Feral Children.

ALSO concrete igloo repress out SOON. PLUS we're doing photos for the cover of Yolk of the Golden Egg next week - also out soon!!!
-Sz.

JUNE 08 06

*Last week we went to Toronto to play another show - surprisingly it went quite well compared to our previous visits thanks no doubt to the hospitality of those who put us up… On the way there we had a chance to check out a bunch of the suburbs in hopes of finding rare music stuff;
no dice but at least I can now say I know Oshawa pretty intimately.

*Right before leaving we filmed a live performance for quebec tv in a massive disused drainage tunnel - the echo was awesome on the drums and the footage looks like it will be cool when it's done. Szam however stupidly decided to walk 40 blocks in the sweltering heat and got heatstroke further agitated when
we had to stand in front of strobe lights for 2 hours.

*We're trying to finish up Yolk of the Golden Egg at the moment and hopefully we'll be able to put it out alongside a re-issue of Concrete Igloo.

*Dandi is on the cover of a compilation! It's called Digital Penetration and put out by Alt Delete (formerly Noize Records). The image is below.

*Go to our myspace to hear some new trax from Concrete Igloo

MAY 12 06

* We've been laying low on the live front due to recording however we've got a few live dates now in june - czech the front page.

* We're filming live on TV on May 31st for our old pal John Londono if we get a copy we'll try and post it here.

* Go to our myspace page to hear a new track "Baying of the Hounds"

A
PRIL 04 06

* Well - this is quite belated - we're back from England and the trip was a difficult one. Evan got bronchitis (sp?) and Dandi got violently ill on the last day.
The Nottingham show was great again however and some of the London shows were really good.
Unfortunately we were unable to record anything but are continuing to finish album number two here in MTL.

* Some recommended media bits - the new "The Knife" album "silent shout" is actually really interesting -
never really cared for their poppy old singles but this new album has really bizarre vocal manipulations over top of some interesting tunes.
Also been watching a bunch of brit-grit director Ken Loach's films - peep "cathy come home", "Kes", "Family Life" etc. they're all great.
Also been on a kick of reading James Jones - Thin Red Line and From Here To Eternity - great humanist war stories that are worth picking up,
but super loooooonnggg.

* Check the IMAGES to see some pix from our show @ Club Lambi last week. Thanks to Emily for those. -Sz.

MARCH 05
06

* Okay we're off to London tonight to record new trax AND it turns out Concrete Igloo is completely SOLD OUT so if you order it there will be a delay.
Maybe you can still order a copy here: http://www.scratchrecords.com

* The show @ Bains Matheiu was really fun and has reaffirmed our faith in the goodwill of man + living etc.
Czech the gallery for a few pix. Evan of course brought some much needed Steel Drumming to the proceedings.

MARCH 03
06

* we're recording in London with Guy Sigsworth @ his studio for 2 weeks so we'll not be able to ship anything during this time.
This is the first time we've attempted recording "pro" style so we're anxious to hear the difference.
Our new drummer Evan is great and it will be rad to have him drum it up on some new trax,,
also - new studio photos soon.

JAN 19 06

* Hello again, It's been as cold as MINUS 26 here in the arctic wasteland that is Montreal. We're hard at work on our second album.
We've got 9 new post - concrete igloo trax that we're really excited about. This will be a more ambitious album with strings and more specific lyrics.
We'd like to have it out in april or so and then have another full album released at the end of '06.

* ALSO and most excitingly we've been practicing at the 100 sided die with our new drummer Evan "Barbados" Pierce.
No previews yet but there will likely be plenty of gothic steel drumming and siphoning of beer with envelopes….

* Since we're rehearsing the new arrangements we don't have any shows in February though we'll be in England throughout march touring and recording.
If yr in England or Europe and want to book us, drop us a line. Later in the year it's anyone's guess.

* Also I just finished editing a new animation that took me most of December and it's called 15 FACES
- it will appear alongside more new video stuff on album numero deux.

* Oh and I just watched 3 really great old films you all should definitely peep back when good films were actually made in America
(well bunny lake is MADE in the UK, but I digress). The first is 'play misty for me' directed and starring clint eastwood in the early 70s.
It's a really nerve wracking film about a woman who's mega obsessed with a smalltown dj.
Also "bunny lake is missing" which is another tense old thriller about a woman who drops her child off to daycare and how the very existence of the child comes into question… The other good one is "three women" with the two oddest Hollywood actresses; shelly duval and sissy spacek - way back in the mid-70s.
it's a very bizarre, foreign feeling and surreal film that goes well with bunny lake but unfortunately takes a turn for the less interesting about midway through
(can't spoil it tho!) watch it if you can and lemme know what you think.

* Also can't stop listening to the Giorgio moroder produced Sparks album - so great; try and find it.

DEC 30 05

* We're back in Montreal from Vancouver. We had fun at all three shows though Dandi almost got a concussion at Mesa Luna. thanx stallion.
... there are plenty of pix in the photos section - so peep dat!
BTW We're now running low on copies of Concrete Igloo so BUY one now and be cool.
Big THX to Doug and SLUM for bailing out the promotion on the Mesa show plus for making the cool new t-shirts (which are now sold out of!)

* Another highlight was playing a house party in Delta with Thee Holocaust Survivors and all the cute girlies dancing in their panties!

* Watch out for a tv feature on us (featuring footage from the mesa luna show) on Razor TV.

DEC 01 05

*Just over a week till we return to Vancouver for the first time in forever!!!
It's ALL AGES @ Mesa Luna Dec. 14 wth Hot Loins, Channels 3 + 4 and Nihilist Party.
Don't miss it cuz we won't be back for a loooooonnnggg time.

* Go to the IMAGES section to see some more pix from the UK + pix from our show @ SAT last week.

NOV 24 05

* We just finished playing 3 shows with Kids On Tv from Toronto who're real fun and nice folks all around
(though one may be a robot aka. "The Boy"!) Thanx to peeps in Kingston who let us stay and party with them…
word to the wise - watch out for the spicy buffalo burger @ Lick's Diner in downtown Ottawa… not so good Al.

* We were pleasantly surprised to see Dandi's pic on the frontpage of the Ottawa Sun arts section as well as an article in the Ottawa Express.
Scan up soon.

* We just did an interview for a feature on "weird" bands from MTL for ARTE tv from Paris which broadcasts also in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium etc….
if yr in that area of the world watch for it in January. Also featured are We Are Wolves, Duchess Says, Lesbians on Ecstacy and maybe Les Georges Leningrad… personally we think this is best group of bands around at the moment so watch for it.

NOV 12 05

* This month we're on the cover of Nightlife Magazine here in montreal (also available some places in Ontario/Quebec as well).
Read the English translation here or go here to see scans of the original en francais. (scroll down)
The pix were taken on Mont Royal by John Londono who also took the photos for "Concrete Igloo"
Also you can thru there website get a free Montreal band compilation which is quite good and
features our friends Duchess Says, Echo Kitty and We Are Wolves too.

* New album now available on our website!

* Last night we got passes to go see Nine Inch Nails. Tho it's been quite awhile since NIN was a favorite (ie: when Szam was 13)
their show was actually really good given the arena setting. They had an unusual stage setup with this strange graphlike blocks with
abstract projections on them and a row of gary-numan-esque pulsating lights behind those. Also there was a large texturing thin screen
that kept appearing over the band that they projected war/insect/bacterial footage over the band during the quiet bits.
Though we'd never pay 70 bux for it - it was interesting compared to the sort of shit you typically see…
IE: Queens of the Stone Age opened and we reckon it was the single worst thing we've seen in ages -
so COCK and macho but with no flair; like watching a suburb bar band full of dads doing a weekend warrior bit.
Their sound was a big wall of guit-sludge with nothing sonically interesting plus they did TWO guitar solos
(I mean JUST guitar for like 3 minutes each ARGH) I've never heard an arena so full of people have so little response to live rock music
- quite an achievement grampas!

* Also cuz it's getting colder here in MTL we've watched some good flix.
Two Japanese one's that are definitely worth peeping are Onibaba and Woman in the Dunes.
Both excellent female lead films that are eerie and totally captivating.
Dandi would put both on a revised top 15 list -very very highly recommended!

OCT 29 05

* So we're back from the UK - it was definitely a looooonnng trip… we've forgotten what montreal looks like and how cold it would be.

Highlights were definitely the absolutely mental sold out Liars Club show in Nottingham, where tons of people knew the words and
were really up for moving - it was super sweaty and it felt like we were in a dead kennedys video from 1981 or the Devo video for "Come Back Jonie" -
it even ended in a stage invasion that knocked out the sound system… also a girl got her tooth kicked in during a crazy mosh - crazy!
We even wore Robin Hood outfits for the occasion, actually Szam was more of a medieval night and Dandi looked a bit like Peter Pan…
Probably our favorite show we've ever played!!! Thanx to Ricky Haley!

Another interesting memory was, after playing with Punish The Atom in Birmingham, our "tour manager" -
Ricky, crowd surfes nude on the tour bus with a carnation stuck up his arse… we reckon this is the first nude crowdsurf
on the WAY BACK from a gig in history. There are pix of this but we don't really wanna go there…

There were some interesting bands as well; Punish the Atom, a vintage punky type band with a great lead singer
(who's also a nice dood) who really knows how to work the crowd and crawl all over the stage.
Also this band of young and energetic boys from Cologne called Mit - who sound A LOT like We Are Wolves from Montreal;
really weird to hear that especially in London where music is disspointingly conservative right now.
Hopefully we can play with them in Germany next time.
Another interesting performer was Planning to Rock based out of Berlin who is this unusual one woman electronic/classical/folk oddity
who's conviction is reminiscence of Kate Bush (who's new single is surprisingly good! Well the ska bits are shit but the rest is cool)…

And last but not least Selfish Cunt, who although we were underwhelmed with on record ages ago were fucking AMAZING live - entirely due to Martin Selfish's absolutely frantic performance - Dandi's in love! His performance literally put Iggy in his prime to shame despite the unresponsive and sparse crowd. Definitely czech them out if you can as it's absolutely a live experience: invigorating and so rare in these conservative times.

Also it was pretty mental to play at the infamous Fabric club - it was oversold and there were apparently 2200 people in the building (!)
The subwoofers downstairs are so powerful you almost lose control of yr bowels.

Also, in Manchester, we played with a Theoretical Girl from Essex who's real sweet and thus she and Dandi were corralled
for about 2 hours into a booth with this wistful irish geezer named Jeremiah who only talked in song and
kept demanding topics to sing about - every song had the same melody and each sentence ended with "don't you know"
and the finished with him saying "have you ever heard a song like that"… he was basically interested in singing about lockets
and fields of barley BUT we got him to sing about Kate Bush, Science and Car Boot sales. Hilariously he DESPISES science
and carboot sales so the songs were all like "Scientists are bastards, they can't cure death - don't trust them".
Weirdly he didn't even drink alcohol in our presence, just nine cups of tea.
Inevitably he took the mic from Dandi right as we finished playing and started (get this)
freestyling over Hand to Phone by Adult (!!!!) bah; I wish we had a recording : (
Although the Manchester gig was pretty small it was a fun night which included ordering 8 pizzas from a "Canadian" pizza parlour run by turks.

Also there's this mental clothing store in London called Kokoh Tozai that has the most outrageous streetware imaginable;
apparently MIA buys her clothes there and the designer is the guy who did the Bjork swan costume a few years back.
For this magazine called "Less Commmon" they let Dandi use clothes from the store for an exclusive photoshoot inlcluding these two amazing hats;
one that was about 4 feet high and made of exotic Papa New Guinea bird feathers and another that was a military helmet
with beautiful gold quail feathers throughout and REAL wings attached to the side of the head. Functional and stylish… peep some pix in the images page.

Our favorite touristy thing to see in London was definitely the amazing museums that are even better than those in NYC.
Particularly the Natural History Museum and the British Museum are so fucking amazing both crammed with
crazy and inspiring Ethnic art from a 1000 years ago that blows everything modern out of the water.
Also mummified Egyptian cats, bulls and eels (!) they even had unwrapped mummy bodies which was pretty insane to see.
There's even some absolutely terrifying dinosaur skeletons, particularly this 30 foot gigantic sloth that was
apparently only wiped out 10,000 years ago by explorers. Basically it's like seeing a monster sized mole eating palm leaves.

Of course we need to thank everybody who let us crash at their place. Especially our "drunken auntie" Jane and her Shoreditch twat friends and Ricky Haley; we'd always wondered what it would be like to live in Nottingham for 9 days and now we know!

* We're playing a Halloween show at Zoobizarre on Oct 29 and then 3 dates with Kids on TV in november. so come out.

* In London there are very limited copies of our 12" "Break The Bone and Suck The Marrow From It" in the following shops:
Rough Trade, Pure Groove, Smallfish, Disque, Select-A-Disc, CitySixteen

OCT 05 05

* Au revoir - we're off to England now - obviously any orders will be delayed in shipment FYI.
We'll put up a diary or something maybe when we're back...
ALSO for all UKers our new Europe only EP "nofuncity" should be available soon from Noize.
Peep the cover. The photos are by Teto El Siddique and Dandi.

SEPT 20 05

* Speaking of England we are excited to announce that we have a 4 track/3 Video EP coming out from Noize Records in London called "nofuncity"
that will precede the release of Concrete Igloo and should be available for all UK dates.

* Also Dandi wants to recommend an AMAZING documentary from the director of Gods Must be Crazy called "Animals are Beautiful People"
Seriously mindblowing!!! And it inspired a new stop animation.. if yr in MTL BTW you should definitely czech out the library - freakin amazing selection!

* We just finished a new track for a children's music compilation called MonsterDinosaur.
It's put together by our talented friend Ehren Salazar who did the artwork for the new 12".
It's inspired by "i like to move it" and tho it has the word "fuck" in it, we reckon it's great for kids.

* Well the Zoombombs show was cancelled due to border holdups - too bad as foufounes (where we'd never been)
looks like the club from purple rain and would be fun to play

SEPT 04 05

* Well our record is finished now.
It's called "Break the Bone and Suck the Marrow From It"
the tracklisting is:

A1: Balloon Factory (slight revision)
A2: Safety Dance

JULY 12- 05

* Hey, so yeah we just played a couple of shows with Final Fantasy who is Owen who is a super nice guy.
His music is great too so check out his record if you haven't. He's doing a second one which we heard a lil sneakpeak of and it promises to be great as well.

* Our 12" BREAK THE BONE AND SUCK THE MARROW FROM IT is now completely at the printer and we should hopefully have some in a couple of weeks.

Finally here are a few film recormmendations for y'all::::
1. Battle of Algiers - amazing french docu-drama that's a must see balanced look at terrorism/revolution.
2. Children of the Underground - heartbreaking doc about Romanian street kids
3. Dog Days - tragic yet beautiful Korine-esque Austrian film.
4. Ebola Syndrome - HK INSANITY about a psychopath who is immune to Ebola spreading the virus around hong kong!
5. Bad Boy Bubby - Uniquely Australian flick about a man who's never been outside his house having to fend for himself. WAY better than 'being there'.

JUNE 21 - 05

* Unfortunately the Fringepop outdoor show was cancelled due to the persistently bad weather here
in Montreal : ( but Crazy Show @ Station C was cool - the venue was a 3 level
converted post office (complete with dungeon!) the sound was beyond horrendous tho.

* Our next gig is @ Sala Rossa with final fantasy but before that on July 4th Dandi is judging a DANCE CONTEST
at Saphir on St Laurent (!!!) so come on out and strut yr shit.

The one on saturday in at Station C on maissoneuve. we're playing that one (called crazyshow) with Echo kitty + Poxy.

* Dandi's on the cover of this weeks ICI magazine here in montreal - in the bottom corner; there's also a pic on the inside with an article about fringepop.
Also apparently there was a mention in last friday's Montreal Gazette... anyone see it or the pic?!

* We are the photo of the week on Chart's website. czech it!!

JUNE 8 - 05

* The big announcement is that we have a 5 track DJ 12" vinyl coming out soon on Summer Lovers.
They're a new label from Vancouver. The EP's called "break the bone and suck the marrow from it"
and it will feature 2 exclusive trax. two slight variations from the EP. and a dope remix from our pal Manderson
of the already classick trak "Mafu Cage" from our forthcoming CD/DVD Concrete Igloo.
Peep the cover below. Sweeeet drawing by our pal Ehren Salazar.

*well the shows in Toronto weren't great. the powerball one especially was beyond shitty.
we ended up losing lots of money and got treated like complete garbage to boot by a bunch of rich assholes.
It reminds us of how superior montreal is to toronto in all ways.

* Pony Da Look however is a fantastic band - far too good for Toronto and totally worth peepin.
They have an album called "the forcefield weakens" which is great. czech em out on newmusicanada!

* we've added some pix from the experience nonetheless, try as we might to forget the whole trip

* PS: we're Back in Toronto on the 10th @ the Rivoli for NxNe.
Torontonians come out and salvage the reputation of yr city.

APRIL 17 - 05

* Long time no talk! We're busy on music here in springly Verdun. We just finished playing two shows with
the unbelievably nice folks in The Hidden Cameras in Ottawa and Kingston and even saw parliament!
We're very patriotic. Unfortunately our Montreal show with the Cameras was cancelled and we are not able to play
in Hamilton next week : (

* Our show in Ottawa was a BIG step up from our last visit in December, this time in a cool old theatre on bank st
(pix in the gallery soon my pretties) plus the local opening act The Jezebels were a blast.
They conduct punk aerobics to trax by the Liars, Le Tigre and even Andrew WK (?!) needless to say
we'd love to play with them again next time we're in their neck of the woods.

*Special Props to Paul (Paully Wogg, Paulitikill, Cerebral Paulsy, A-Paulling) Shiffman for driving us to both gigs.

* We were on the frontpage of chartattack on thursday! The sentiment is nice for sure but we definitely
think it's funny how the whole slant of the article is how we're moving TO Vancouver to join in
on the bustling scene (heh) as OPPOSED to living in "sexy" montreal!

* Here's a nice page from someone in Kingston - aww thanx I'm touched.

* Oh and Dandi is super excited to be working with AMAZING montreal designer YSO on a professional
costume for upcoming gigs. This dude's a wizard so you're gonna be knocked out when it's done!

* Here's something new - some interesting links to check out.

- here's Alice Bag (legendary LA punkette) page with amazing pix of
LA punks from the late 70s. She was in a band with Dinah Cancer of 45 grave !

-And via Alice here's a link to a performance by the legendary Screamers of particular interest
cuz of the intense duet with the mysterious Sheila. Wikked! Scroll down or do a search on the page for "screamers"

MARCH 22 - 05

you've got a party / promote gigs then shoot us and email and we'll do this!

MARCH 07 - 05

* The Stinkmitt show was amazing! Can't believe how many people knew the words to most of the songs
and got up on stage to dance. We sold the most merch we ever have. We have almost nothing left!!!
Stinkmitt rokked the fucking house as well and we can't get over how many times Betti did the splits!
Peep the gallery for a few snaps from the show.

* We just filmed a new music video for our forthcoming album yesterday in between packing, It's for Mafu Cage.
It was directed by Justin Adam and costars The Stallion. Click below for a few preview pix from the shoot.

Unfortunately neither are all ages. sorry.

* Last nite Szam's DAD of all people heard a CBC "going coastal" profile on us...
Amazing cuz it's like @ 4:30PM during rush hour.
They played Umbilical Noose too and said we're a "mixture of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson" heh.

* FINALLY we have one of our actual videos up for viewing on the site!!!
Czech out Umbilical Noose by clicking here! Mucho Gracias to Matthew for helping us out with this.
And of course hats off to Flick "it's all about you" Harrison for shooting the thing!

Go there to stream our SAFETY DANCE cover amongst else: http://ww.myspace.com/dandiwind

FEB 24 - 05

* So we're back from Toronto; which was a fantastic trip. We played 6 shows at the Drake hotel -
a very cool venue and with an amazing hotel which we had the pleasure of staying in for the week as well.
Everyone was super nice to us plus we met all sorts of helpful people in the city…
we can't reveal the details just yet but we're definitely in a better position now to realize many of our goals
as a band and we're ecstatic about that and have many exciting opportunities to pursue in the next few months.

The trip would have been a total success had it not been for Dandi falling off the back of the stage
and through the projector screen + the insane blizzard that started right as we arrived at the airport
and then left us stranded there the whole night… BAH! Two of the shows were filmed professionally
with 3 cameras so we hope to have those available for viewing soon.

* Come out to see us play with Stinkmitt and Bakelite on Friday Mar 4th as we are going to play WAY WAY WAY
less shows around Vancouver and this is a great lineup too. It's at the brickyard.
More details regarding times soon.

* The cbc interview aired last Sunday; though we haven't heard it edited yet we probably
come across as deathly serious and humourless.. We did an interview for Chart Magazine
that should be out next month. So scoop dat.
PS: will have scans of the magazine covers + pix from T.O up shortly.

* We're in the process currently of changing hosts for our website so if you're experiencing
problems please email us at "dandiwind AT hotmail DOT COM" and tell us what those are.
The upside is we will now have far more server space and will have some of the videos
from the forthcoming full length DVD up here as well as full and exclusive Mp3s for y'all.

The two highlights of the show would have to be Kevin YP headbutting Basement's mannikin

a young lady from the audience jumped on stage and inserted a tampon during the finale.
Now THAT's entertainment!
